February 23, 2007: Setting Sights On Storage

Another one of these Processor Magazine articles shows up here, too bad they were incorrect with my gender. 😦

“We are really moving from a goods-based economy to an information-based economy,” says Jame Ervin, technical accounts manager for StoneFly (www.Processor.com/StoneFlyNet). “With this change, people are constantly collecting information, mostly in digital formats. . . . With the explosion of email, online content and media, and digital record keeping and archiving, organizations are struggling to manage internal and external content.”

“Storage services are improving since vendors are doing a good job of placing themselves in their customers’ shoes and developing tools that are useful for their environments,” Ervin says. “A lot of this is being driven by the explosion of content in small to midsized organizations. The organizations developing the new tools look more like their target customers than ever before and are better able to refine their tools since they are also using them in-house.”
